Calvinball Chess
In this game, three rules are added to chess, and the rules are different every time you play it. The game does require two players locally, unless you want to play chess solitaire.
Note to firefox users: the aspect ratio is wonky for you because godot in browser isn't supported on firefox. You can still play the game
Calvinball is a game invented by calvin in the comic strip "calvin and hobbes" that uses various sporting equipment. Supposedly, the only permanent rule in calvinball is that it can never be played the same way twice, so new rules need to be made each time. I though of calvinball when I saw the theme of this jam and wanted to apply that template to chess. There are 27000 possible rulesets for calvinball chess, so yes, technically, it can be played the same way twice if you win the lottery.
You do not automatically win if your opponent is in checkmate, so if you are playing with the rule "the loser wins," do the honorable thing and capture their king if you put them in checkmate.
This is built off CatAClock's godot chess template.
